So school needed to send us on a Visa run so last Wednesday afternoon I had my Head come into my classroom and give me a ticket and hotel reservations for the following day (oh you have to love Kuwait and IPE!) After a nightmare at the airport, trying to get into Bahrain is a complete pain in the arse unless you've been there before, you have to have like a background check. It took us about 2 hours to get through, and that was pretty quick! However right next to the Visa area there's a off licence. And yes, it had alcohol! I'm pretty sure I've never been so happy to see a bottle of Yellow Tail! Yes it was overpriced, but after 3 months of homebrew or no alcohol (it's better to stay off alcohol than drink the homebrew!) I'm pretty sure I would have paid double for it! Now the rest of that night is a massive blur of random Arab clubs and far too much tequila, but the next day we got to see Bahrain. It's lovely! The Bahrain World Trade Centre is possibly one of my favourite buildings ever. It has wind turbines in the middle of it! Brilliant architecture! The buildings in Bahrain were stunning, the skyline's just beautiful. We spent most of the Friday lying on a patch of grass feeling sorry for ourselves and admiring the sea and the buildings. Then it was back to chilly Kuwait (it's mid-20's now and it's cold!) and another day of recovering!
The Year 3 concert is looming, we had our first whole year run through today and it went pretty well, lots of compliments. I'm proud of my un-coordinated, tone deaf class. They've worked their socks off!
I'm coming down with some horrible bug that's hitting the rest of the Year 3 team, so we're all snuffling and croaky.
Here're some of the pictures from Bahrain.
